This one started off as a bit of a study of Ralph McQuarrie's work on The Empire Strikes Back and still retains a very similar background to one of his paintings.
While painting this one, I realized I have a bit of a 'thing' for crashed ships and derelicts. As far back as I remember, I've been doodling this idea and I think it stems from some of the images in the book Parallel Lines which was a collection of 60s/70s Sci-Fi art by Chris Moore and Peter Elson. Amazing how some things will stick with you your entire life.
